Foreign Firms
Mature business environment, contracts, and currency
Many organizations from around the world have identified the United States as a terrific location to offer their products and services. It is politically stable, there’s confidence in its currency, and with a population with ample discretionary income, this all translates into a market worth exploring. However, this market maturity comes with its own set of challenges. Our sophisticated workforce has high expectations regarding compensation and benefits. And in addition to the United States being governed by numerous federal employment laws, one of our other internationally headquartered clients referred to us as being like “50 different countries” when discussing the applicable employment laws from the 50 different states!
For these firms we’re able to play many different roles.
- We can either be the HR department through our fully outsourced model or support their current HR department through entry into and ongoing operations in the US by providing them with HR support, localized knowledge, vendor resources, and recommendations to include but not limited to:
- Human Resources Information Systems
- Payroll Vendors
- Benefit Brokers
- Arc can assist firms with their strategic workforce planning to determine how many, of what type of staff will you need where, and with what skills? And when will you need them? These are critical decisions to make in the early stages of trying to establish a foothold in a new territory. Regardless of how early the relationship with Arc might begin, these conversations will be essential.
- After a workforce plan has been designed, it must be executed. Arc can provide recruiters to help acquire the talent needed for successful entry into the US market. We will pursue the team members that are excited by the idea of helping a new provider bring its products or services to the US. We will engage with individuals who fit the style and culture of the home firm while helping it to adapt to the American customer base. And we will be sure the compensation and benefits attract and retain the number, level, and type of staff members necessary for long term success.
- We’ve assisted foreign firms, through mergers and acquisitions of US-based companies, in their large scale on boarding of employees in multi states.
- And we can either train the current HR staff or hire and train future HR staff to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and mandated discretionary benefits.
- For organizations that will be sending staff from their headquarters country to the US to oversee the start of new operations, we can provide personalized and individualized support to help ease their transition to their new home. Whether it be guidance around home buying, purchase of medical, dental, or vision coverage, schooling, and whether it be support for an individual employee alone, or an employee and their family, we’re ready to be your sympathetic ear and help manage the non-business side of the transition!
Arc Human Capital is perfectly suited to assist overseas firms with navigating not only this challenging legal landscape, but also the establishment of efficient operational methods needed to ensure their success.
